Server-side Scripting
This repository of information on ASP, ColdFusion and PHP makes an excellent
intro for anyone with an interest who is as yet hazy about what one or more
of them can really do. You’ll get the lay of the land and come away able to
speak authoratively.
Regardless of what server-side scripting software you actually choose, it
will be worth your while to know at least this much about the others as well.
What you’ll learn here makes a good basis for evaluating which one to use,
but even if that decision has already been made, seeing how they are all
similar will give you a better appreciation of what they're really all about
and therefore make you more comfortable with the development process,
regardless of your particular role.
Color on the Web
I discovered the World Wide Web in 1996. I was so jazzed and energized and interested that I chose
to introduce myself to the territory behind those exciting pages by producing these three things
as my "contribution". The web had given me so much that I literally felt the need to give back.
Actually, I originally developed the Color Picker in Macromedia Director. I rewrote it in
Javascript for the web in 1999.
Dynamic HTML
Not really a tutorial, this is an invitation to see how far
DHTML can take you, and to look at the DHTML required to produce
some very comprehensive applications. The code for these amazing
animations is fully viewable with "view-source:".
Streaming Video on the Web
I wrote this in 1998, and there have been upgrades to both
RealVideo and Quicktime since then. The information in this article
is still well worth reading as a general background to get the
lay of the land.
Conversion Strategy
A website marketing strategy is a well-founded plan by which you will leverage web design and development to increase internet sales from targeted website traffic and thus achieve a better website ROI.
Search Engine Optimization
To produce a better website ROI, you must choose keywords that people are actually searching for, yet not overly competitive. The actual results of your keyword research will probably reveal a range of keyword challenges spanning the entire spectrum between keywords that are searched on by the millions but entirely outside your current reach and weakly searched yet easily dominated keywords.
